Webster's definition of Grandmother is " a female ancestor". The definition of my Grandmother is witty, caring, dependable, and showing unconditional love. One of the many gifts she gave me was to teach me that if you could laugh at yourself, you would never run out of smiles. Some of the good times we had were sitting with Grandmother watching a brave's game, or playing rook with family at Grandmother's table. One thing that Grandmother did that I see as her unconditional love was she always called her grandsons "son", and her daughters and granddaughter "sister". She did not think of us as her grandsons and granddaughters, but something closer her as sons and sisters. The memories of a close family run deep in my soul and make me the person I am today. I want to thank Grandmother for shaping her family into a Godly and loving family. You will always be with us. We Love You. -Chad Mullins
Grandmother always met you with a smile. I remember Christmas because it seemed to be her favorite time of the year. When you walked into her house on Christmas morning there was the smell of baked ham and biscuits. She made the best biscuits I've ever eaten. She loved to talk about John, as she called my granddaddy or Archie as my Uncle Ronnie called him. She always had stories to tell us about him. All I can say is "thank you for bringing joy to our lives and I love you and will miss your smiling face. -Jon Bryant
My Grandmother was always there.
She was there for my mother
and me early in my life.
She was there for me during my childhood strife.
When times were difficult
as a young teen she was there.
When I knew things were tough I didn't have to ask where,
She was there.
At Christmas time there
was no question I knew just where to be,
At Grandmother's house with the rest of my family.
As time went by and people
changed
Her love never did, it stayed the same.
When I had finally learned
how to care,
Her love found me and again was there.
My Grandmother was always there.

To all of our family and friends we thank you for your prayers over the past few weeks and months for Grandmother. To some of you she was Lila Young and others simply "Grandmother." The Lord welcomed Grandmother home shortly after 5am on Tuesday February 17th. Many of us knew that this time was near and today we rejoice in knowing that she has gone to a better place. Her loving memory will live on forever in our hearts as we celebrate her life and remember the wonderful times we shared as a family. The unconditional love that she gave this family shines as a beacon of hope that we shall all strive to achieve.
